– Marty Haugen, H. Hassler, & J. S. Bach

 A TIME FOR THE CHILD IN ALL OF US

*HYMN: For Brightly Greening Spring                           tune: TERRA BEATA

For brightly greening spring when lilac blossoms bloom,

For beasts that end a season’s sleep

and rouse from winter’s gloom;

For hatching, birthing time and playful growing days;

For mothers bringing life to earth, O God, we give you praise.

The cool cascading rains a thirsting desert needs;

The supple sunlight’s longer span; the soil and sprouting seeds

Join natures rhythmic dance—the song of life and death,

Led surely by God’s moth’ring hands,

and formed in God’s own breath.

Because they nurture us, and shape us as we learn,

Because they foster, guard and guide through life at ev’ry turn,

Praise God for young and old, for women and for men

who shelter us like chicks within the wingers of mother hen.

SERMON: Leaving Comfortable Places

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S GRACE WITH THANKSGIVING

PASTORAL PRAYER & THE PRAYERS OF ALL

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give

us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

 PRAYER RESPONSE: Amen – David M. Kenney, Sr.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

from Marcia McFee’s Come to the Table of Grace liturgy

All sing:  Come to the table of grace, Come to the table of grace.

           This is God’s table, it’s not yours or mine.

          Come to the table of grace.

Pastor:  Friends, God is ever present with you!

People: And also with you!

Pastor: Let us proclaim to everyone this news:

People: The peace of Christ is always with us!

All sing:  Come to the table of peace…

Pastor:  Listen! … So we lift up our hearts.

People:  We lift them up to God

Pastor: Let us give thanks… saying:

People:  Holy, Holy, Holy God!  Everywhere we see your glory!

                Hosanna in the highest!

Pastor:  Blessed is the one … others considered “unworthy.”

People: The Lord is present with every one of us.

All sing:  Come to the table of love…

Pastor:  On the night … as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

All sing:  Come to the table of love…

Pastor: Let us be a community of messengers, proclaiming:

People:  Christ has died.  Christ is risen.  Christ will come again.

Pastor:  I invite … Let this joy be seen in us outside of this place.

All sing:  Come to the table of joy…

*GIVING THE BREAD AND CUP

All who love the Lord are welcome at our communion rail.  An usher will let you know when it is your turn to step into the center aisle & come to the communion rail at the front of the church.  The communion bread will be dropped into your cupped hands, then a cup of grape juice offered. After you drink, place the cup on the rail. After the pastor gives a blessing, return by the side aisle to your seat.

WE GO FORTH TO SERVE GOD AND OTHERS
